Jack Time Once Again - 4/13/25

Released part 3 of Jack's comic.

This was a """""short""""" update; my alternative option was to make a super long one that would have inevitably burnt me to a crisp. It feels way shorter (to me) but it's actually...only about 3 pages shorter than the last one. I think it's because I did 2 long scenes instead of the usual 3?? I say "short," but I...I still probably spent a hundred hours on it, gah. >_<

I was sorta hoping since I'm so early into the year with this one that maybe I could cram another update into the tailend of this year, but I've already done the thumbnails for the next part and...uh...it's too long...unfortunately...

The main focus of the first half of the update was Jack's memory. I'd touched on it a bit in earlier parts, but in a way that was mostly easy to dismiss as Jack just being "flaky."

I like Kade for this sort of role. While everyone else is busy dancing around shit, Kade cuts right on through and goes, "Hey, are you...good?"

It was a scene I've had thumbed for nearly two years, but could never find the right moment to sandwich it in. This was probably actually the last point I could have included it (Jack...has to be an Innocent/Happy Kid for it to work), so I'm really glad it made the cut. It feels narratively disruptive...in a good way. :p

I'm proud of how this panel turned out. I try to challenge myself artistically a little bit in each update, while still trying to keep a mentality of "giving 70% percent instead of my all" or whatever. I worked smarter, not harder, basically. It gets the job done and isn't terrible to look at!! And I didn't spend a billion hours obsessively trying to make it Perfect!! Yay!!!

Second half of the update is Jay propaganda...one of these years...one of these years someone is going to tell me that Jay is their Fave. (Stares wistfully into the distance...)

I'm so tired of photobashing this background from slightly different angles. I am almost as eager for Jay to leave this hallway as Jay is to leave this hallway. Free him from this background!!!!! (It's not even happening in the next update!!!! Gah!!!!!)

I MADE...A VISUAL TIMELINE... We are past the halfway mark (whispering really quietly) of act one. But the first part was always my main goal to complete for this story; I'll be very happy & satisfied if I make it to the end of it.

Act two is...theoretically a lot shorter than act one though. If you were sitting there going, "is there an implied act three" then um. Yeah. BUT it technically takes place AFTER TMatM, and honestly if I burn out on act two I can skip over it and treat three like it's its own thing. I'm trying to be flexible with this project.

This is my first time releasing something big since cohost's closure. I've been a little bit tense about it. Chucking stuff I've spent double to triple digit numbers of hours on into the social media void has gotten increasingly harder for me over the years. I hope this doesn't come across as a guilt trip, but if you're the sort of person that bites your tongue out of shyness or Hedgehog's Dilemma or whatever, I would love to hear from you!!! I like hearing that people read my stuff! Thanks!
